How to Migrate From PartnerStack to Rewardful

Planning to migrate from PartnerStack to Rewardful? Making the move is 80% preparation and 20% execution. A messy transition often doesn't really happen on the software side. Where it usually goes wrong (if it does) is when a business confuses their affiliates mid-switch, or discovers three weeks after canceling PartnerStack that a report they needed only existed there.

This affiliate software migration guide is the operational plan that will make sure you don't miss a thing: what to audit on PartnerStack, what affiliate data to import to Rewardful (and what doesn't), a phased cutover, and the message to send your partners.

Who This PartnerStack Rewardful Migration Is For (and Who Should Stay Put)

Switching from PartnerStack to Rewardful is usually fit to teams who want a leaner affiliate program: straightforward recurring-commission management, payouts through PayPal or Wise, and pricing that doesn't require a procurement cycle.

If you rely on PartnerStack's marketplace for partner recruitment, run reseller or deal-registration workflows, or bill through a payment provider other than Stripe or Paddle, the migration removes features you use daily. Searching for a PartnerStack alternative for SaaS only pays off when what you're leaving behind is dead weight, not critical infrastructure.

If you're still at the decision stage on the PartnerStack migration, the Rewardful vs. PartnerStack comparison shows how PartnerStack is stacked up against Rewardful. This can help you make an informed decision.

Before You Move From PartnerStack to Rewardful: Audit and Back Up Everything

One limit to know from the start: affiliates and their referred customers can be imported, but historical invoices and commissions cannot.

Before you change a single setting, pull a complete copy of your program out of PartnerStack and store it somewhere where you will have access to it after canceling your subscription. Transitioning away from PartnerStack can be challenging because partner data access is limited, so budget real time for this step. Then begin your audit:

  1. Affiliates. Full list with contact details, and a decision on who comes along. Migrating is a natural moment to leave dormant partners behind.
  2. Active referred customers. Every customer currently attributed to an affiliate is matched to their Stripe customer ID. This mapping is the single most valuable file in the migration.
  3. Commission rules. Every rate, tier, and partner-group exception, as actually configured, not as you remember them.
  4. Link tokens and handles. The affiliate link slugs your affiliates are known by, so their new links can keep the same handle.
  5. Pending payouts. Everything owed but not yet paid. Plan to settle these inside PartnerStack before you leave. Migrating debt between systems is how partners get shortchanged.
  6. Integrations and automations. Anything wired into PartnerStack (CRM, email, Slack) that will need rebuilding or retiring.
  7. Program terms. Your current affiliate agreement, so the Rewardful campaign terms match what partners already accepted.
  8. Historical reporting. Export invoices, commissions, and performance history. This information does not migrate, so this export is not merely a backup; it's your entire archive.

What Imports Into Rewardful, and What Doesn't

To import your affiliate data, prepare a CSV file where each row represents a referred customer — or better, use our ready-to-use affiliate software migration template.

Create four columns for the referred customer's Stripe customer ID (not the affiliate's), plus the affiliate's first name, last name, and email. If you’re using PayPal or Wise for affiliate payout method, create another column to record their payment email. Another column to add is for the affiliate links. Rewardful links are formatted as yourdomain.com?via=token, so an affiliate known as “justin” on PartnerStack can be “justin” on Rewardful.

Once your file is ready, send it to Rewardful, and the support team runs the import into your dashboard. For this, simply use the Chat pop-up window on our website and our team will get on it.

Note: pay close attention to the referred-customer import. Those customers' future payments are what your affiliates' recurring commissions are calculated from. Import affiliate data with the Stripe customer mapping intact, and your partners keep earning on the customers they already referred. If you skip it, every existing referral goes dark on day one.

The PartnerStack Migration in Six Phases

Phase 1: Plan the Cutover

Pick a date, name an owner, and check your PartnerStack renewal date first. A PartnerStack migration that starts three weeks before an annual renewal has a deadline, and one that starts three weeks after has a year of overlap you're paying for.

It's wise to decide at this stage that pending PartnerStack payouts get settled before the switch. And keep the cutover clean: one system is the source of truth at any moment.

Important: if you think your situation will need a parallel-running period, confirm the exact setup, possibilities, and constraints with Rewardful support.

Phase 2: Export and Clean

Pull the eight audit items, then put the affiliate and referred-customer data into the import template. Deduplicate affiliates, drop the partners you're not bringing, and verify every referred customer has the right Stripe customer ID.

Phase 3: Configure Rewardful

Connect Stripe or Paddle, then rebuild your commission structure as campaigns: rates, cookie windows, payout terms, and minimum payout thresholds matching the program terms your partners already agreed to. Set up your branded portal so the affiliate-facing experience is ready before anyone is invited into it. Here’s a help guide on how to create your first campaign on Rewardful.

Phase 4: Test Attribution and a Sample Partner Flow

Click a test affiliate link, complete a checkout, and confirm the conversion gets to the right affiliate. Then, go through one full partner journey as if you were an affiliate: sign up through the portal, grab a link, check the dashboard.

Phase 5: Import with Rewardful Support

Send the cleaned CSV, let support run the import, then verify: affiliate count matches your export, referred customers appear under the right partners, and link tokens resolve. Don't announce anything until these counts reconcile.

Phase 6: Communicate the Change

After making sure your affiliate program is set up properly on Rewardful, tell your partners about it. Then, retire the PartnerStack links, and close out the old account once your archive export is confirmed safe. See below for some messaging tips when you announce the affiliate tool switch.

AddSearch Made The Switch To Rewardful From PartnerStack, And Cut Spend By 90%

AddSearch, an internal site-search SaaS with roughly 100 affiliates, made this move from PartnerStack to Rewardful. On PartnerStack, they were paying enterprise rates ($18,000 a year) for functionality they used a fraction of. On Rewardful's Growth plan the same program costs $99/month — a cut of nearly 90%, and runs without a dedicated program manager because any team member can log in, track sales, and process payouts.

Their PartnerStack-Rewardful migration came down to two steps: technical setup and partner migration – and both are easy to do. Here’s what AddSearch CEO says about the move: “switching to Rewardful was a good decision for us.”‍

How to Tell Your Affiliates About The PartnerStack Migration

Affiliates aren't against platform changes; they're just not big fans of surprises about their money. One clear and practical message before the cutover and a reminder on the day keep them informed and at ease. Here's how we'd structure it:

  • What is changing: the program is moving to a new platform on [date], and their affiliate links are changing.
  • What they need to do: log in to the new portal, get their new link, and replace the old one wherever it appears. This is the one action item, so make it unmissable. You could even ask them to send you confirmation that they've done this, just to keep track.
  • What stays the same: commission rates, payout terms, and, importantly, their existing referred customers, who continue earning them commissions on the new platform.
  • Where their history is: make sure they know their earnings history from the old platform is preserved on your side, and their pending balance is being paid out before the switch. Communicate this clearly so they don't freak out when seeing a bunch of zeroes.
  • Who to contact: one named person or an inbox for migration questions, with a response-time promise you can keep during cutover week.

Go-Live Checks Before You Call It Done

The migration from PartnerStack to Rewardful is complete when all six of these boxes can be ticked:

  • Referred customers imported and reconciled against your PartnerStack export, attributed to the right affiliates
  • Link tokens live and resolving, with familiar handles preserved where affiliates had them
  • Campaigns and commission rules matching the program terms partners originally accepted
  • Pending PartnerStack payouts have been settled and confirmed received
  • The affiliate-facing flow (portal signup, link access, dashboard) was tested end-to-end by someone on your team
  • Historical exports are archived somewhere that outlives your PartnerStack login
